Every year the American Hosta Society surveys its members for their favorite hosta cultivars.  Interestingly the list changes very little from year to year.  Also interesting is the predominace of large hostas and/or variegated hostas on the list.

Hosta of the Year Selection

Each year the American Hosta Growers Association selects a hosta cultivar for special recognition.  To receive this award the hosta must: (1) retail for no more than $15 in the year selected; (2) be widely available and in sufficient supply; and (3) grow well in all parts of the country.
